Flashcards are an effective means of learning. They let you memorize a bunch of information about various topics in a shorter period of time. They are compact, easy to create, and you can use them for just about any subject from language learning to mathematics. There aren’t a ton of flashcard apps on Google Play. Luckily, most of them seem to work perfectly fine. Your choice is mostly dictated by your application. Here are the best flashcard apps for Android.

AnkiDroid Flashcards

Price: Free

AnkiDroid is a simple, cross-platform flashcards app. It’s compatible with Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and even Linux. The app features a widget, syncing, text-to-speech integration, and support for text, images, and sounds. You also get access to 6,000 premade decks of flashcards covering a variety of topics, a night mode, a whiteboard, custom fonts, and more. This isn’t as powerful as some others on the list. The iOS version of this app costs $25. We’re a little surprised the Android version is free.

Cram.com Flashcards

Price: Free / $5 per month

Cram Flashcards - best flashcard apps for android

Cram.com is one of the most popular flashcard apps. It has a variety of features, including a fairly decent flashcard editor and cross-platform syncing with its website. The app also features offline support, a library of over 75 million flashcards, and more. It uses a spaced repetition method like most apps. Additionally, there are three viewing modes for flashcards. You get most of this stuff with the free version. The $5 per month subscription is mostly just for a few extras. This one is pretty decent as long as you don’t mind subscriptions.

Flashcards App

Price: Free / $2.99

Flashcards App is a fairly standard flashcards app. This one supports a bunch of different types of flashcards, including images, multiple choice questions, and more. The app also has Quizlet integration, sharing features, and various study modes. You get 50 flashcards with the free version. A single $2.99 in-app purchase removes the restriction and gives you unlimited cards. The low price and multiple modes make it perfect for students on a budget or those who may need something more than the bare minimum. The UI is a little ugly, but it gets the job done and that’s what matters.

MemMe

MemMe is a bit of a diamond-in-the-rough when it comes to this flashcard apps. It’s quite a bit newer than most on the list and hasn’t been tested by a ton of people. However, the app has an excellent UI and it’s relatively simple to use. You simply create your flashcards, run through them as you normally would, and repeat until you have obtained all of the knowledge. The app is entirely free to use with no in-app purchases. That may change eventually but for now, we appreciate the price tag. As with all newer apps, we hope the app continues to receive polish over time, but it’s honestly pretty good.

Quizlet

Price: Free / $19.99 per year

Quizlet is probably the most popular flashcard app on Android right now. Most people use this one for learning foreign languages. However, at its core, it’s a flashcard app. Some of the features include various game and study modes, sharing features, support for 18 languages, support for images (built-in ones only) and audio, and more. You get all of those features in the free version. The premium (subscription) version lets you upload your own images for flashcards, better support, and ad removal. It’s especially good for language learning, but it’s usable for other topics as well.
