Best Halloween movies on Netflix:

Editor’s note: We will update the list of best Halloween movies on Netflix as movies get added and removed.

1. Hubie Halloween

Adam Sandler’s latest movie happens to be one of the best Halloween movies on Netflix. He plays  Hubie Dubois, a man who tries to keep everyone safe every Halloween in his small town. No one really takes him seriously. However, this year’s Halloween celebration is a little different. People are disappearing, and there’s an escaped criminal on the loose. Can Hubie convince the police and the rest of the town to deal with these threats? This is a movie that’s made for the whole family to watch.

2. The Addams Family

The Addams Family is always a great family movie to watch during the holiday. There’s an especially memorable scene that takes place during Halloween, where a group of kids make the mistake of taking their trick or treat trip to the Addams’ house. This 1991 movie has tons of great performances by the cast, but Christina Ricci deserves a special mention as Wednesday Addams. She was born to play this part of the ultimate goth girl.

3. Sleepy Hollow

It wouldn’t be the best Halloween movies on Netflix list without a film directed by Tim Burton. This 1991 adaptation of the classic Washington Irving story casts Johnny Deep as Icabod Crane. In this movie, he’s a police detective in the 18th century who is investigating a series of murders in the town of  Sleepy Hollow, New York. All of the murderer’s victims have been beheaded. Is this the work of the infamous Headless Horseman? Watch this movie to find out.

4. Poltergeist

Poltergeist is a true classic haunted house story, set during modern times in contemporary suburbia. The movie, which is partially set during Halloween, begins when the young daughter of a family starts to talk to beings that seem to live in their television. Soon, these beings are doing more than just talking to a kid. This 1982 movie remains one of the scariest films of all time, but it still has the heart of a family that’s dealing with these unexplained occurrences.

5. All Hallow’s Eve

This 2016 movie has a different premise for a Halloween movie. A girl who has just turned 18 during the holiday wants to use her powers to summon the spirit of her dead mother. Unfortunately for her, her spell raises up a powerful witch instead. She has to take down the witch before she wreaks havoc on her hometown.

6. Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween

This is one of the best Halloween movies on Netflix, and also one of the most recent. This 2018 sequel is once again based loosely on the series of children-themed horror books by R.L. Stine. In this movie, characters and creatures from Stein’s books come to life in a small town after some kids read from the Haunted Halloween novel. Can they put all of these monsters back? Watch and find out for yourself.

7. The Silence of the Lambs

This 1991 movie might be stretching our best Halloween movies on Netflix list a bit. However, it is set during the fall time period, so we will allow it. We pretty much have to, as it swept the major Academy Awards of that year. It may be the best movie about a serial killer of all time. In fact, it has two of them. One is Buffalo Bill, which is the person that Jodie Foster’s FBI agent Clarice Starling is trying to stop. The other is the imprisoned Hannibal Lector, played by Anthony Hopkins, who is trying to help Starling in his own way, while also trying to escape his cell.

8. Holidays

Our last movie on our best Halloween movies on Netflix list is a horror anthology. That’s not unexpected. What is different is that this 2016 movie gives us eight horror tales that are set during different holiday times during the year. Of course, one of them is set during Halloween, but feel free to watch the seven other short episodes as well.

That’s it for our list of the best Halloween movies on Netflix.
