I first heard about Kakuro while I was doing research for my best sudoku games for Android list. It’s basically a mix between sudoku and a crossword puzzle. The game board resembles a crossword, but instead of clues you get numbers. You then basically play sudoku to get those numbers. It’s not the most popular game type in the world, but it’s definitely something different for folks tired of the classics. Here are the best Kakuro games for Android.


Kakuro by Pink Pointer

Price: Free / $1.99

Kakuro by Pink Pointer is a solid, simple Kakuro game. The game boasts five different difficulties, various keyboard layouts, a sum error function to show mistakes, Google Play Games achievements, and a function to point out rule violations.

It has advertising in the free version, but all of the features are otherwise available. Experienced Kakuro players can make it through every level in a month or so, but the various difficulties give it some replay value.

Kakuro Logic Puzzles

Price: Free (with ads)

Kakuro Logic Puzzles is another decent game. It boasts board sizes that go from 5×5 to 13×13 grids in a variety of difficulties. There’s also a zoom function, a hint function if you get stuck, Google Play Games leaderboards, player stats to track your efficiency, and more. The developers also promise more levels over time.

The game seems to cater mostly to beginner to intermediate players, but the upper levels can be a bit challenging too.

Kakuro: Number Crossword

Price: Free / Up to $3.99

Kakuro: Number Crossword is another great Kakuro game for beginners and intermediates. The free version of the game boasts 120 puzzles, with more in the premium version. There’s also a hint system, a function to show errors, and simple controls for easy play. Players can even work on multiple puzzles concurrently and back up their progress to Google Drive. It’s a good all-around option with clean implementation.


Kakuro Plus

Price: Free / Up to $3.99

Kakuro Plus is one of the biggest Kakuro games on the list. It boasts more than 2,800 total grids for you to complete. Some other features include 11 game levels, an undo function that cancels up to 100 actions, decently easy levels for beginners, and the premium version adds even more.It also includes basic stuff like hints and a function to show you where mistakes are.

You’ll be working on this one for a while because it’s such a large game.

Real Kakuro

Price: Free / $2.98

Real Kakuro is another excellent Kakuro game. The game boasts a 10×10 board for all levels and you can play every level even on the free version. Some other features include high-quality graphics, an auto-save function, and simple menus. It even has little niceties like no in-game soundtrack so you can vibe to your own jams.

The developer also has truly excellent Hitori and Sudoku games in case you want to try others.
