BlackBerry Priv coming soon to T-Mobile, Verizon and Sprint
BlackBerry’s Priv is one heck of an Android smartphone. For right now, interested buyers can either purchase the handset unlocked from BlackBerry’s website or through AT&T with a contract. If you’ve been waiting for the handset to make its way to other carriers, you’re in luck – at the company’s CES 2016 press event, BlackBerry CEO John Chen has announced that the Priv will soon make its way to Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint. T-Mobile has announced that it will be available for purchase from the carrier on January 26th, though no pricing information was revealed. Pricing and exact availability details have not been revealed for the other carriers, though we’ll let you know when we learn more.
The Priv is available unlocked for $699, or for $250 from AT&T with a two-year contract. While we’re not entirely sure how many units BlackBerry has sold thus far, we’d hope the device comes to these carriers at a slightly cheaper price point. It’s a great phone, just a little pricey considering the amount of money other phone makers are charging for devices similar in the specification department.
As a refresher, the Priv comes with a 5.4-inch Quad HD screen, a Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM and a really great 18MP rear camera. Of course, it also includes a slide-out physical keyboard, some handy BlackBerry software features and plenty of security enhancements to help keep your data safe.
We understand $250 with a two-year contract is a bit too much for some folks out there, so if the Priv came to T-Mobile, Verizon or Sprint for $200 or even less, would you consider it? Tell us what you think in the comments.
