Developer Ninja Kiwi’s series of Bloons TD tower defense games are some of the best ever made for smartphones from that sub-genre. It’s been several years since the last game in the series was released, Bloons TD 5. Today, the team finally launched its next entry in the franchise, Bloons TD 6.

The biggest visual change in Bloons TD 6 is the use of 3D graphics for the first time, which means that some parts of the 20 new maps in the game could be hidden from your line of sight. The basic goal of the game is the same as the others in the Bloons TD series. You have to build your tower defenses to fight off waves of “bloons.”
For that defense, you have 19 different monkey towers to choose from, and each of them now have three upgrade paths to pick from, for a total of over 100 different tower upgrades. There’s also the addition of “hero” monkeys that can each call upon two unique abilities to keep those bloons from making a mess of things. Speaking of which, expect to see some new bloon types, including Purple, Fortified, and the very ominously named B.A.D.
New gameplay modes can also be played, such as Restricted Monkeys, Double Health MOABs, and a way to play via CHIMPS rules. There’s even a way to play single player games offline, just in case your Wi-Fi or cell network is not available. Bloons TD 6 costs $4.99 from the Google Play Store, but there’s an option to purchase additional in-game currency as well.
