New Casio Wear OS smartwatch adds heart rate sensor, keeps very high price
One of the strangely-missing features of every Casio smartwatch up until now has been a heart rate monitor. The Casio WSD-F21HR finally solves that problem by offering most of the features you expect with a Casio smartwatch with the addition of the HR sensor.
However, Casio wasn’t able to bring down the significant price of the smartwatch too much. Considering the addition of the HR sensor, though, it’s refreshing that the price wasn’t raised much higher, either.
As the Casio WSD-F21HR name suggests, this device is not a follow-up to the 2018 WSD-F30. Instead, this is an iterative upgrade over the 2017 model, the Casio WSD-F20. The WSD-F21HR looks very much the same as the F20 just with a heart rate sensor.
As one would expect, the heart rate sensor exists underneath the watch body and functions by pulsing green light onto your wrist.
The Casio WSD-F21HR runs on Wear OS just as other Casio smartwatches so that heart rate sensor will tie-in with Google Fit or other Wear OS fitness tracking apps. It also comes with the same highly-accurate GPS sensor technology previous Casio smartwatches are known for.
You can grab the WSD-F21HR for $500 starting in September. The device comes in two colors: red and black.
