World's largest tech trade show CES will be an in-person event in 2022
- CES 2022 — the world’s largest tech trade show — will be an in-person event.
- The show will happen in Las Vegas, its home over the past 40 years — with the notable exception of this year when the show was all-virtual.
- Show-runners CTA will be reviewing COVID-19 safety guidelines and adapting the show to meet requirements.
In January 2020, the Consumer Electronics Show happened with an in-person event in Las Vegas, as it had done for decades. Of course, only a few months later, the COVID-19 pandemic began, which forced pretty much all trade shows to either be canceled or get turned into all-virtual affairs.
This year, CES 2021 went all-virtual for the first time. Next year, though, CES 2022 will go back to “normal,” with an in-person event in Vegas as usual.

Here in the United States, the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines has been running at a rapid pace. Estimations right now posit that over 50% of the US population has had at least the first of two vaccination shots. Theoretically, an in-person CES 2022 seems like it could actually be feasible.
However, it’s not just US citizens who attend CES. People come from all over the world, and some of those places might not have had as successful of a vaccine rollout. In response to that, CES show-runners will adapt the event to follow COVID-19 safety measures as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in addition to any local guidelines.
CES 2022 will happen starting January 5, 2022, and run until January 8.
