How to change your home address on an iPhone

Have you recently moved? We know it can be a hassle to update all your documents and services, but Apple makes it easy to change your home address on an iPhone. You have to know where to find the option, though, and you have to go through a few apps to change your address on all services. Let’s show you how it’s done.

Editor’s note: We used an iPhone 12 Mini running iOS 16.4.1 to formulate these instructions. Keep in mind some steps may differ depending on your iPhone model and the software it’s running.

How to change your home address in the Contacts app

Apple offers My Card, within the Contacts app. This will sync across Apple devices and store most of your contact info, such as your name, phone numbers, birthday, addresses, and more. It’s good to have it up-to-date if you want to share your general contact info with others.

1. Open the Contacts app.
2. Tap on My Card, which also says your name in larger letters.
3. Tap on Edit.
4. Go down to the section with your addresses.
5. You can edit any of your addresses here.
6. You can also tap on the red – button to delete an address. Then simply hit the add address option and fill out the new address.
7. Hit Done when ready.

Change your Apple ID address

Apple ID mostly needs your address to verify payments and ship products to the right address when you purchase something from the Apple Store. You can always edit this information during checkout, but it’s always best to have it all ready.

1. Launch the Settings app.
2. Tap on your Apple ID section, which is the option at the top, with your name on it.
3. Select Payment & Shipping.
4. Tap on your card under Payment Methods. If you haven’t added payment methods, just tap on Add Payment Method and use the new address.
5. Select your current information under Billing Address.
6. Edit the info under Billing Address.
7. Hit Done when ready.
8. Go back to Payment & Shipping.
9. Tap on Add Shipping Address or the address you want to edit.
10. Edit the information and hit Done when ready.

How to change your home address in Apple Maps

Of course, we can’t forget about Apple Maps! We don’t want it to take you back to your old place when you ask to navigate “home.” The good news is Apple Maps simply takes the info from My Card in the Contacts app. This means you won’t have to do anything to change your home address on an iPhone if you already updated the address in the Contacts. Use the instructions in the first section, if you haven’t yet.

How to change your home address in Google Maps

Now, Google Maps is another story, as it isn’t linked to your Apple ID. You’ll have to update this one manually, if you use Google’s mapping services.

1. Launch Google Maps.
2. Tap on your avatar icon, in the top-right corner.
3. Hit Settings.
4. Select Edit home or work.
5. Go into the Labeled tab.
6. Tap on the three-dot menu icon next to Home.
7. Hit Edit home.
8. Update the address.
9. Tap on the address. If the system can’t find it, you can also tap Choose on map to manually select it.

Update your Apple Pay address

If you use Apple Pay, you surely don’t want transactions getting declined because of address verification issues. You may also accidentally ship products to your old home. Get it all squared out ASAP.

1. Launch the Settings app.
2. Go into Wallet & Apple Pay.
3. Under Payment Cards, go into the card you want to change the billing address for. You’ll have to repeat the process individually, if you want to change the address for multiple cards.
4. Tap on your Billing Address.
5. If you already have it added, you can switch to the correct one by tapping on Edit, then tapping on the address and entering the new info. Otherwise, hit Enter New Billing Address.
6. Search for the address and select it.
7. Go back to the Wallet & Apple Pay section.
8. Go to the Transaction Defaults section and tap on Shipping Address.
9. Hit Enter New Shiping Address if the right one doesn’t show up.
10. Search for the address and select it.
