ChatGPT can now do more in Google Chrome, including taking action inside open tabs

OpenAI keeps improving ChatGPT week after week. It’s either releasing faster, more intelligent AI models or adding new features that make it more useful. Today, the company announced more of the latter, adding a useful new Chrome integration.

In a thread on X, the official ChatGPT account announced several new upgrades to ChatGPT and the ChatGPT extension for Google Chrome users. The AI assistant can now use open Chrome tabs for context or to gather information. In an example shared by the company, the AI goes through sofa listings across several Chrome tabs and compiles a list of the best options based on everything it knows about the user.

To make things even more interesting, ChatGPT Work can also control actions in other tabs. You can ask the AI to download a file, send a message, or fill out a form, and it will do this. It can also organize and group tabs into categories to make your life easier.

The ChatGPT extension, which you can access in a Chrome sidebar, is also more powerful now. It can summarize reports, articles, and webpages for you, or draft emails without switching tabs. Plus, with access to your ChatGPT history and Plugins, the extension can take powerful actions in open tabs, such as filling out inventory forms or pulling receipts from Gmail and submitting them on your company’s reimbursement webpage.

These new ChatGPT features are available to ChatGPT users on all plans, including those without a paid subscription. You can download the ChatGPT extension and start using the new Chrome features today.
