We asked, you told us: There's one feature you'd give up for a cheaper S21 FE

The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE was one of the more popular flagship devices released last year, and for good reason. It managed to deliver plenty of bang for the buck while still delivering premium features like a telephoto camera, water resistance, and wireless charging.

All eyes are on the Galaxy S21 FE continuing this affordable flagship trend for Samsung, and a new rumor points to the phone being even cheaper than its predecessor. A cheaper price tag is usually accompanied by a compromise or two, so that got us thinking what you’d give up for a cheaper S21 FE.

Which feature would you forego for a cheaper Galaxy S21 FE?

We posted the poll on Monday, June 7, with over 2,300 votes counted as of writing. And the results show that almost 40% of respondents are willing to give up wireless charging in exchange for a cheaper Galaxy S21 FE. This was the single biggest choice in the poll, but we hope Samsung offers faster wired charging if it ever ditches wireless charging.

The in-box charger and accessories was the second most popular feature to be dropped, with 14.4% of polled readers saying they’d ditch these goodies if it meant a cheaper price. This was followed closely by 5G (14.1%), which is understandable when the S20 FE had a 4G variant while sub-6GHz 5G isn’t a game-changing improvement over LTE.

Cheaper/less versatile cameras (12%), water resistance (10%), the latest and greatest flagship SoC (8%), and “other” (2%) rounded out the results.

• Wongwatt: I’d happily give up all of Samsung’s supposed value adding firmware tweaks and use Android One. Because I hate Samsung bloat.
• stolnheartdealr: Cameras are number one on the list of importance, SoC next and water resistance. EVERYTHING ELSE on the list can get the ax as far as I’m concerned.
• Hussain Almubarak: Why stop at just stop at ONE feature? I would be willing to give up 5G – Because it isn’t available here in NZ in most areas, water resistance because I am not going to dip my phone in water, ceramic or glass back because the day I get my phone it will go in a case and nobody will know the difference if it had plastic or ceramic body, wireless charging because at the end of the day I will still need to put the phone on a charger, why not just plug it in then? I don’t mind if I don’t get the latest SoC because I am not going to use the phone to play games that require a discrete video card (just some Candy Crush).
• tarfin: For me I’d give up the high end camera. The one in my A71 5G does very well and if I needed more professional options a DSLR would make more sense.
