Chrome OS gets virtual desktops, simple phone number sharing, and more
Chrome OS just got some handy updates. The latest version of the operating system brings tools for organizing your workspace, copying phone numbers, and printing documents quickly.
Chromebook users now have the ability to send phone numbers directly from the web to their smartphone. With the new Chrome OS Click-to-Call feature, users can now right-click a phone number when browsing the web on their Chromebook and send it to their mobile phone. This will definitely save time and effort in manually copying that number to your phone.
To set-up the Chrome OS Click-to-Call feature, you will have to sign into your Google account on your Chromebook and phone. You will also have to turn on syncing for the Chrome browser.
Another useful update to Chrome OS brings the ability to create multiple virtual desktops on Chromebooks. The feature is similar to what you can already do on Macs and Windows machines. Virtual Desks on Chrome OS allow you to create separate workspaces within your Chromebook. So if you are working on one desktop, you can create another one for personal use and easily switch between the two.
The Virtual Desks feature will be available when the new Chrome OS update arrives. to try it out, open Overview and tap New Desk in the top right-hand corner of your screen.
Setting up printers on Chrome OS is also a no-pain job now. With the new update, compatible printers will automatically show up in your printer list when you press Ctrl+P on your keyboard. If you use a specific printer, you can now save it as a default option through printer section in settings.
Lastly, Google is making it easier for Chrome OS users to share feedback. When you press and hold your power button, you will see a dedicated interface for feedback.
