Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus get price cuts in India
With the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus now available in India, it makes sense for Samsung to lower the prices of their predecessors, the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. That is exactly what Samsung did in the country, though one of those price cuts might make you do a double take.
First spotted by SamMobile, you can now pick up the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus for 49,990 and 53,900 rupees — roughly 10,000 rupees less than what the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus currently go for. The lower prices are available through Samsung and offline retailers, with folks getting 10,000 rupees back if they pay through the Paytm wallet.
What is a bit strange is the new price of the Galaxy S8 Plus variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. You can pick up the phone for 64,900 rupees — a 6,000-rupee decrease and the same amount you would pay for the 64GB Galaxy S9 Plus.
The storage capacities differ, but the microSD card slots somewhat offset that. Also, since both phones cost the same, it might be smarter to go with the newer device for longevity’s sake.
That’s not to say the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are not worth your time. Thanks to each phone’s Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, expandable storage, 12MP primary camera, near-bezel-less display, and headphone jack, they still offer plenty of power for the next year and beyond.
