Digital Wellbeing hits Nokia 7 Plus, the first non-Pixel device to get it
- You can now install Digital Wellbeing from the Google Play Store on your Nokia 7 Plus.
- The only limitation is that the Nokia 7 Plus must be running the latest beta version of Android 9 Pie.
- This news likely means that most if not all devices on Android 9 Pie will eventually get Digital Wellbeing tools.
If you own a Nokia 7 Plus and have the latest beta version of Android 9 Pie installed, you can now access Google’s Digital Wellbeing suite of tools to help curb your smartphone use, via Nokia Power User. Simply click here or on the button at the bottom of this article to download the Digital Wellbeing app on your Nokia 7 Plus.
The availability of Digital Wellbeing on the Nokia 7 Plus is the first time the toolset has been made accessible to non-Pixel devices. While we don’t want to jump to conclusions, this suggests that most (if not all) devices with Android 9 Pie will eventually have access to Digital Wellbeing.
While Google hasn’t explicitly said as much, a wide availability of Digital Wellbeing would make sense, as Google is putting a lot of emphasis on digital health and smartphone addiction.
The Nokia 7 Plus was one of a handful of devices from different manufacturers that were given access to the Android P beta program. The latest build of Android 9 Pie for the Nokia 7 Plus is still in beta, and Digital Wellbeing itself is also in beta, so you should expect some bugs and some missing features.
That being said, the Digital Wellbeing toolset is incredibly useful and shows a lot of promise as becoming an integral part of the Android experience. If you have a Nokia 7 Plus with Pie, you should definitely give it a shot.
