Everything announced as part of Disney Plus Day
Today is Disney Plus Day. That means the House of Mouse is celebrating the second anniversary of its streaming service with various promotions and announcements.
Today is the day to learn about a slew of upcoming series and films heading to Disney Plus. Those include projects from all the major Disney brands such as Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and more.

What is Disney Plus Day?
Disney Plus Day is a wide-reaching celebration of all things Disney. That includes new programming announcements, promotions, deals, photo opportunities, and other surprises in person across Disney brands. International Disney Parks and Resorts, Disney Cruise Lines, and ShopDisney.com are all getting in on the action too.
Disney previously announced several new projects launching as part of Disney Plus Day, including the following:
- Home Sweet Home Alone: a Disney Plus original movie and reimagining of the holiday franchise.
- Olaf Presents: an original series of shorts from Walt Disney Animation Studios that sees Frozen’s iconic snowman retelling classic Disney tales in his own unique way.
- The domestic Disney Plus streaming debuts of Walt Disney Animation Studios shorts. These include Frozen Fever, Oscar winners Feast and Paperman, the Oscar-nominated Mickey Mouse short Get A Horse!, and more.
- Ciao Alberto, an animated Pixar short featuring characters from the feature film Luca.
- A new The Simpsons short that pays tribute to Disney Plus’ marquee brands.
- The first five episodes of the second season of National Geographic’s The World According to Jeff Goldblum.
- A special celebrating Disney Plus’ Marvel Cinematic Universe shows and looking towards the future.
- The streaming release of Jungle Cruise and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on Disney Plus at no additional cost to subscribers.
Everything announced on Disney Plus Day
The big event during Disney Plus Day is the announcement of some highly-anticipated new titles. The House of Mouse also offered updates on previously announced projects.
Below is a full list of announced titles, broken down by brand. These include Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, National Geographic, and Star (Disney’s international brand, included in Disney Plus subscriptions outside the US). Star programming will be available in the US on Hulu.
Disney flagship Disney Plus Day announcements
- Cheaper by the Dozen: Gabrielle Union and Zach Braff’s reimagining of the hit family comedy Cheaper by the Dozen heads to the streamer in March 2022.
- Disenchanted: The sequel to the hit film Enchanted, starring Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey, launches exclusively on Disney Plus in fall 2022.
- Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The new animated entry in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid franchise starts streaming on December 3, 2021.
- Rodrick Rules: A second animated film from the Diary of a Wimpy Kid universe premieres in 2022.
- Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers: John Mulaney and Andy Samberg star in the hybrid live-action/CG animated feature film streaming on Disney Plus in spring 2022.
- The Beatles: Get Back: Peter Jackson’s docuseries streams over three nights starting on November 25, 2021. Watch a clip.
- Better Nate Than Ever: Based on the book by Tim Federle, Better Nate Than Ever premieres in spring 2022.
- Hocus Pocus 2: Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy return as the Sanderson Sisters in the sequel to the Halloween cult classic, premiering fall 2022 exclusively on Disney Plus.
- Pinocchio: Robert Zemeckis combines live-action and visual effects in his reimagining of the classic story, starring Tom Hanks, Cynthia Erivo, Luke Evans, and the voices of Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Keegan-Michael Key, and Lorraine Bracco, premiering in fall 2022.
- The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild: Simon Pegg is back as Buck in an all-new movie, premiering on January 28, 2022. Watch the teaser.
- Sneakerella: Set in the avant-garde sneaker subculture of New York City, the music-driven movie puts a gender-flipped twist on Cinderella, premiering exclusively on Disney Plus on February 18, 2022. Watch the trailer.
- The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder: A new series, based on the Disney Channel series from the 2000s, streaming in February 2022. Watch the trailer.
- High School Musical: The Musical: The Series: Season three of the show heads to sleepaway camp for a summer of campfires, romances, and curfew-free nights.
- The Spiderwick Chronicles: A new live-action series based on the beloved best-selling books.
- Baymax: This new series follows Big Hero Six‘s Baymax, streaming exclusively on Disney Plus in summer 2022. Watch the trailer.
- Zootopia Plus: A new short-form series set in the mammal metropolis, coming in 2022.
- Tiana: The long-form musical series about the newly-crowned Princess of Maldonia heads to Disney Plus in 2023.
- Intertwined (Entrelazados): The first Disney Plus original series produced in Latin America is now available to stream. Watch the trailer.
Pixar Disney Plus Day announcements
- Cars on the Road: Pixar’s Cars gets a new series, with Mater and Lightning McQueen heading out on a cross-country road trip, streaming on Disney Plus in 2022.
- Two new documentaries explore the making of Pixar’s Turning Red and Lightyear, heading to Disney Plus in 2022.
- Win or Lose: Pixar’s first-ever original long-form animated series lands at Disney Plus in 2023. Each 20-minute episode highlights the perspective of a different character as a middle school coed softball team prepares for their championship game.
Marvel Disney Plus Day announcements
- Hawkeye: In post-blip New York City, Clint Barton (aka Hawkeye) teams up with 22-year-old skilled archer Kate Bishop to unravel a criminal conspiracy, premiering November 24, 2021.
- Moon Knight: A vigilante who suffers from dissociative identity disorder is thrust into a deadly war of the gods against the backdrop of modern and ancient Egypt. The series premieres in 2022.
- She-Hulk: Tatiana Maslany is She-Hulk/Jennifer Walters, a lawyer who specializes in superhuman-oriented legal cases in a new comedy series coming to Disney Plus in 2022.
- Ms. Marvel: Kamala Khan — a 16-year-old Pakistani American from Jersey City — gets superpowers like the heroes she’s always looked up to, premiering in summer 2022.
- Echo: Alaqua Cox stars as Maya Lopez/Echo following her introduction in Hawkeye.
- Ironheart: Dominique Thorne is Riri Williams, a genius inventor who creates the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man.
- Agatha: House of Harkness: Kathryn Hahn returns as her fan-favorite character from WandaVision.
- Secret Invasion: Samuel L. Jackson returns as Nick Fury, with Ben Mendelsohn reprising his role as the Skrull Talos, in this crossover MCU series.
- The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special: A holiday special written and directed by Guardians of the Galaxy veteran James Gunn.
- X-Men ‘97: A series featuring new stories set in the iconic 1990s animated series timeline.
- What If…? Season two: The multiversal animated series returns to Disney Plus for more stories told by The Watcher.
- Spider-Man: Freshman Year: An animated series that follows Peter Parker’s road to becoming Spider-Man within the MCU, told in a style evocative of Spidey’s early comic book roots.
- I Am Groot: Original animated shorts explore Baby Groot’s formative years before becoming one of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
- Marvel Zombies: This animated series reimagines the Marvel Universe as a new generation of heroes battle against an ever-spreading zombie scourge.
Lucasfilm Disney Plus Day announcements
- Willow: Upcoming series Willow sees the return of Warwick Davis as his iconic character, joined by castmates Ruby Cruz, Erin Kellyman, Ellie Bamber, Tony Revolori, Amar Chadha Patel, and Dempsey Bryk, premiering exclusively on Disney Plus in 2022.
- Obi-Wan Kenobi: Ewan McGregor returns as Obi-Wan Kenobi, streaming in 2022.
- Under the Helmet: The Legacy of Boba Fett: Learn about the origins and legacy of Star Wars’ legendary bounty hunter, Boba Fett, now streaming on Disney Plus. Watch the first look.
National Geographic Disney Plus Day announcements
- Welcome to Earth: Will Smith explores Earth’s greatest wonders in this six-part original series, streaming December 8, 2021. Watch the trailer.

- Limitless with Chris Hemsworth: Thor actor Chris Hemsworth seeks to discover the full potential of the human body in this six-part Disney Plus series from National Geographic, streaming on Disney Plus in 2022. Watch the trailer.
Star (International) Disney Plus Day announcements
- Rosaline: A comedic twist on William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, told from the perspective of Juliet’s cousin Rosaline — Romeo’s ex-girlfriend. The film premieres on Disney Plus Star in 2022.
- The Princess: Joey King stars as a young royal who is more comfortable with a sword than a tiara and must save her kingdom from ruthless mercenaries in this new film premiering summer 2022.
- Prey: The latest entry in the Predator franchise is set in the world of the Comanche Nation 300 years ago and follows Naru as she fights to protect her tribe against the alien predator. The film premieres summer 2022.
- No Exit: This suspense-thriller follows a young woman who is stranded by a blizzard and forced to find shelter at a highway rest area with a group of strangers. The movie premieres in 2022.
