Disney Plus Star Wars Day events will include a new Mandalorian docuseries
Disney Plus was not going to let Monday, May 4 (Star Wars Day) get away without something new for its streaming audience. The Disney Plus Star Wars Day events will include the launch of a new documentary series on the making of the hit live-action show The Mandalorian.
The official Star Wars website says that the eight-episode series will be called Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian. It will take a more detailed look behind the scenes of the first season of the show, which centers on the bounty hunter and, to most people’s huge surprise, his new companion known as The Child (or Baby Yoda). Each episode will take a look at a different facet of the show’s production, with previously unseen footage and interviews with executive producer Jon Favreau and other members of the crew. While the first episode will drop on a Monday, the other episodes will premiere on Disney Plus on subsequent Fridays.
The other major Disney Plus Star Wars Day event will be the series finale episode of the acclaimed animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. After seven seasons, we will see how this look at the massive war that takes place in between the Star Wars movies Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith finally plays out.
What’s next for Star Wars fans on Disney Plus?
Disney Plus will have a bunch of Star Wars content coming to the streaming service over the next several months, and into 2021. That includes season two of The Mandalorian in the fall, and the debut of Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker later this year.
In 2021, barring delays due to the current coronavirus outbreak, we should see a Rogue One: A Star Wars Story prequel series on Disney Plus. It will star Diego Luna, reprising his role as Cassian Andor, and Alan Tudyk as the droid K-2SO. The other live action series due in 2021 will center on Obi-Wan Kenobi, played once again by Star Wars prequel actor Ewan McGregor.
Will you be signing up for Disney Plus on Star Wars Day to check out the new content?
