DJI's cinematic Osmo Pocket 4P finally goes global after months of waiting

DJI launched the Osmo Pocket 4 earlier this April, bringing several upgrades to its ultra-popular pocket-sized gimbal camera. A month later, the company quietly showed off the Osmo Pocket 4P at the Cannes Film Festival. At the time, all we knew was that it featured two cameras instead of the single lens found on the standard Pocket 4. Now, DJI has officially launched the new model globally, a month after its reveal in China.

A second camera built for portraits

The biggest difference between the Osmo Pocket 4P and the regular Pocket 4 is its dual-lens setup.

The main camera on the Osmo Pocket 4p uses a new 1-inch CMOS sensor with a 20mm equivalent focal length and an f/2.0 aperture. DJI says it delivers 17 stops of dynamic range thanks to LOFIC technology and can record 4K video at up to 240fps, matching the standard Pocket 4.

The second camera is a 60mm medium telephoto lens with an f/1.8 aperture. It’s designed specifically for portraits, offering 3x optical zoom and up to 12x digital zoom. DJI says the longer focal length and wide aperture produce more natural-looking portraits with stronger background blur than the standard model.

The Pocket 4P also introduces 10-bit D-Log 2, a new color profile that captures more than one billion colors for greater flexibility during color grading.

Combined with the device’s 17-stop dynamic range, DJI says the camera can preserve more detail in bright highlights and dark shadows, on par with cinema cameras.

Like the standard Pocket 4, the new model supports 4K recording at up to 240fps for 8x slow-motion video. It also includes Slow Shutter Video for creating motion blur and light trail effects.

Familiar design with smarter tracking

The Osmo Pocket 4P keeps the same compact design philosophy as the Pocket 4, weighing 230g and using DJI’s 3-axis mechanical gimbal stabilization.

However, it comes with an upgraded ActiveTrack 8.0 system that can track people, pets, vehicles, and other moving subjects while keeping them centered in the frame. DJI says tracking continues to work even at 12x zoom, and the camera can automatically frame multiple people when needed.

Other features of the 4P include:

• Instant recording by rotating the touchscreen.
• Gesture controls to start recording or enable subject tracking.
• 37MP photo capture.
• 4K Live Photos with 1.5-second motion clips.
• USB 3.1 transfers at up to 800MB/s.
• Charging from 0% to 80% in 18 minutes.
• Up to 210 minutes of battery life on a full charge.

It also works with DJI’s existing Osmo accessory ecosystem, including filters, battery handles, microphones, mini tripods, and other add-ons.

Pricing, availability, and the US situation

The Osmo Pocket 4P is launching in Europe, the UK, Canada, and Australia. In the UK, the Osmo Pocket 4P Standard Combo is priced at £529 (~$706), while the Osmo Pocket 4P Vlog Combo is priced at £605 (~$807). DJI says pricing is the same for both the Black and Pearl White versions of the camera.

The Black model will be available from launch day, while the Pearl White version will go on sale at a later date.

DJI also confirmed that the Pocket 4P will not be available in the US for now, noting that product authorization is still pending.
