Essential Phone to come in three new, limited edition colors (Update)
Update (2/16): On February 15th Essential announced the three new colors highlighted below. Today the company also unveiled a fourth color on Twitter, Halo Gray. The new color also has a special trick up its sleeve, it supports Amazon’s Alexa out of the box. This is a special feature reserved only for the new gray color and not any of the other existing color.
- Essential will release three new color schemes for the PH-1: Ocean Depths, Stellar Gray, and Copper Black.
- Each color format is limited edition, and go on sale at predetermined times this week and next.
- There are no internal upgrades with these devices, just new exterior coloring.
If you’ve been holding off on grabbing an Essential Phone because you need some more color in your life, then today is your lucky day! Starting at 12:00 PM PST, Essential Phones in a new color, “Ocean Depths,” will go on sale at Essential.com.
The Ocean Depths color scheme features a teal back with gold edging around the sides of the phone as well as the fingerprint sensor on the back. The color scheme is quite striking and will surely help your phone stand out in the sea of black slates out there.
Next week, on February 20, the PH-1 in Stellar Gray will go on sale at 12:00 PM PST. The back is a matte gray which gives the phone a smooth touch but comfortable grip. The edging is a bit lighter gray, giving it a minimalist, but still interesting look.
Also next week, on February 22, you can get an Essential Phone in Copper Black. This color scheme looks very similar to the traditional “black on black” scheme of the Essential Phone, except that the edging is a shiny copper line. This would look really cool with a copper/gold colored wallpaper covering the all-screen display.
All three color variants are $599 and will only be available at the shop at Essential.com. The company is emphasizing that these colors are limited edition, and thus could sell out quickly. If you are interested in getting your hands on one, it’s highly advisable for you to be on Essential.com at noon the day they go live!
Also, these phones are internally identical to the original Essential Phone; all that’s changed is the exterior color scheme.
What do you think of these new colors? Will you be grabbing a new PH-1?
