Robot vacuum and mop combos are a lifesaver for any household, making the otherwise time-consuming chore of maintaining pristine floors a breeze. A flagship robot vacuum can set you back well beyond a thousand dollars if you want all the bells and whistles. But most tend to fall short in one key are — active mopping. Most robot mops struggle with tough spills like, say, tomato sauce or coffee stains, where you not only run the risk of spreading out the mess but also have dirty mop pads that will stain the floors of other rooms.

We all tend to pull out a stick mop or a wet/dry vacuum to manually clean tough, stubborn stains. But what if you didn’t have to anymore? That’s where the Eureka J20 comes in! Here’s what you need to know.

Eureka’s RollRenew™ Mopping System is a game-changer

Eureka makes some excellent handheld wet/dry vacuums, so it’s no surprise that it was one of the first to bring the mopping feature from these products to its robot vacuums. The RollRenew Mopping System has a treadmill-style rolling mop and two water tanks to ensure that only a clean mop surface touches your floors.

During mopping, five jets spray fresh water onto the mop continuously. The mop rolls forward and applies 17N of force, the equivalent of 1.7 kgs of pressure, to mop up stubborn stains. A scraper then cleans the mop pad as it rolls through and moves any dirty water to a 250ml waste water tank to ensure a clean mop with every rolling pass.

With only fresh water and a clean mop surface making contact, you are guaranteed pristine floors, and there’s no worry of dirty water and stains being carried to other areas and rooms. Taking things one step further, the mop on the J20 is also wider than what you get with competitors, ensuring a quicker and more thorough cleaning experience.

Two mop types provide comprehensive cleaning regardless of the surface

Eureka also takes carpets into account with the availability of two types of mops with the J20. The first is the standard fluffy mop that’s ideal for carpet-less floors. Even if you have carpets in certain areas, the J20’s ultrasonic carpet recognition feature kicks in and actively avoids these sections, so you don’t have to worry about wet carpets.

Of course, you’ll likely want to vacuum carpeted areas without worrying about manually switching modes or removing the mop. The second mop type is perfect for this. This has half-fluffy and half-waterproof sides that the J20 can switch between. When cleaning hard surfaces, the robot vacuum will use the fluffy side and switch to the waterproof half when rolling over carpets.

The best part is that you don’t have to adjust any settings here. The J20 will automatically detect the type of mop it’s using and apply the appropriate cleaning convention for either scenario.

A powerful vacuum complements the excellent mopping feature

The Eureka J20 has a vacuum with 8,000Pa suction, making it the most powerful robot Vacuum in Eureka’s lineup. It boasts four suction levels that the J20 can automatically switch between after detecting the amount of dust, hair, or debris that needs cleaning. There’s also a suction boost when vacuuming carpets.

The J20 has a single side-brush design, which helps significantly reduce the scattering of debris you sometimes see with dual side-brush robot vacuums. To further provide an efficient clean, the robot has two angled squeegees at the bottom to create a funnel effect and move debris toward the suction inlet.

The all-in-one base station makes maintenance easy

The J20’s base station earns its moniker because it truly does it all — collects dirty water, cleans and dries the mop, refills the clean water tank on the robot, adds detergent, and clears out dust and debris.

The base station has two large 3.5L tanks for dirty and clean water, and a 3L dust bag ensures up to 75 days of hands-free operation. The station will automatically remove dust, hair, and debris from the robot’s dust tank and move them to the dust bag, clear out the dirty water tank, and top off clean water after every clean. It then dries the mop with warm 45-degree air to prevent mildew, mold, and bacterial growth.

Even though you don’t need to clean the dust bag for up to 75 days, there’s a risk of odor buildup. Eureka addresses this issue with a ventilation system incorporated into the base station that provides continuous air circulation in the dust bag compartment to prevent odors.
