(Added: Nexus 9) First OTA files for Android 5.0.1 Lollipop available for download
If you haven’t yet received an Android 5.0.1 Lollipop over-the-air update for your Nexus device, there is always the option of flashing the OTA file yourself, so long as you can get your hands on it.
So far, only a small selection of Nexus devices, basically only the tablets, have been updated to Android 5.0.1. But it will surely only be a matter of time until the Nexus smartphone line-up is updated too. Anyway, here are the links:
- Nexus 7 2013 WiFi – 5.0 -> 5.0.1: razor LRX22C from LRX21P
- Nexus 10 – 5.0 -> 5.0.1: mantaray LRX22C from LRX21P
- Nexus 9 – 5.01 -> 5.0.1 volantis LRX22C from LRX21R
To install these files, you can either flash them directly through the custom recovery that you have installed or apply the update via ADB by using the stock recovery option. For the latter, you’ll need to connect your Nexus tablet up to your PC and sideload the file using ADB.
Other Nexus owners should keep their eyes open for that 5.0.1 OTA update in the coming days and weeks. If you’re interested in the specifics of the update, you can check out the LRX22C build page.
