TL;DR
  • Fitbit’s upcoming Sense and Versa 3 smartwatches have leaked in multiple renders.
  • They both appear to include GPS, and the Sense might add ECG or improved heart rate detection.
  • An Inspire 3 would also improve Fitbit’s basic fitness tracker.

Update: August 20, 2020 (2 AM ET): A few days after we saw the first leaked renders of the upcoming Fitbit Versa 3, tipster Evan Blass has shared several high-resolution renders of the smartwatch.

The new set of renders don’t tell us anything that we didn’t know already from the previous leak but they do show the Versa 3 in three distinct colorways: bronze, navy blue, and black. Fitbit could launch the smartwatch in more colors for all we know but as of now, at least three seem to be confirmed.

It also appears that that tech companies are embracing the bronze trend kicked off by Samsung with its new Galaxy lineup. We expect to see more of this colorway on phones as well as wearables going forward. Meanwhile, check out the latest Fitbit Versa 3 renders below.

Original article: August 18, 2020 (12 PM ET): Fitbit might not be done making its own products despite Google’s planned acquisition. The WinFuture team claims to have leaked details and images of Fitbit Sense, Fitbit Versa 3, and Fitbit Inspire 2 wearables that could include some overdue features.

Both the brand-new Fitbit Sense and the Versa 3 have symbols indicating likely support for built-in GPS. Unlike the Versa 2 and many other Fitbit devices, then, you could go running or cycling without having to bring your phone for positioning data. GPS has been present on the Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch lines for a long while, but this could still be welcome if you’re deep in the Fitbit ecosystem or just prefer its approach to fitness.

There’s also a heart symbol on the Sense that suggests it might have ECG support, or at least some form of improved heart rate detection. Both watches appear to have heart sensors. ECG again isn’t a novelty in the smartwatch world (Apple has had it since 2018), but it would be helpful for detecting heart trouble.

Apart from the possible heart monitoring upgrade, the Sense would represent a new, relatively premium model line with metal construction and a more rounded case. Both this and the Versa 3 are said to have have new, simpler ways to swap bands.

The Inspire 2’s features aren’t available, but it could have a simpler design than the original Inspire and will likely stick to basic fitness tracking.

There aren’t any mentions of release dates or prices for these wearables. Given that the Versa 2 was released roughly a year ago, though, we wouldn’t be shocked if one or more of Fitbit’s rumored offerings showed up soon. The company might not get another chance at releasing products like this again — if Google’s deal passes official scrutiny, Fitbit’s next projects could easily shift focus.
