FreedomPop, the Los Angeles-based service provider that offers users “completely free mobile service”, is expanding its reach into other countries starting today. The MVNO has just announced that it’s bringing the popular “Basic 200” plan to the U.K., which gives users 200 minutes, 200 texts and 200MB of data each month for free. Well, it’s free after you pay the £6.99 fee for SIM delivery and activation, but that’s still a pretty great deal.

To help get more consumers in the region on board, FreedomPop is offering the first 10,000 users who sign up for the service a special plan that gets you 1,000 minutes, 1,000 texts and 1GB of data for free for the first month. If you’d like to keep this plan after your first month, it will cost you £9 per month. There’s also a £12 per month plan that will get you 2GB of data along with unlimited talk and text.

If you’d still like to go the free route but are looking for more data, you’ll be able to complete various third-party offers like taking surveys or downloading coupons for extra data. Additionally, you can share and receive data with your friends and family members who are also FreedomPop users, which will likely come in handy if you’re in a pinch.

FreedomPop plans to bring its service to seven other countries within the next year, and to over 20 markets by the year 2017.
