Galaxy Alpha Limited Edition brings luxurious leather designs
Let’s face it, 99% of the time, the phrase “limited edition” along with its siblings “collector’s” and “special” are nothing more than marketing magic designed to make customers spend cash on something that isn’t going away anywhere. Sometimes however, a truly limited limited edition is released to the world. December has seen its share of power products, what with the recent 20th Anniversary Edition PlayStation 4 and the eBay insanity it spawned. Samsung has also decided to get in on the time-sensitive nature of the holidays with a special edition Galaxy Alpha on-sale now, exclusively in France.
Have a look at the promotional video to decide if this lovely limited leather is the perfect holiday gift, but please note this product is in no-way different from the standard Galaxy Alpha save for the back plate: the underlying hardware has not changed.
The Galaxy Alpha Limited Edition is the product of a collaboration between Samsung, fashion label Free Lance, and artist JB Rautureau, to produce four custom-made leather back covers for the Gold and Silver variants of the device. There are only 100 of each available, and each comes with a serial number and certificate of authenticity. The premium product retails for 649 Euros ($795) which is a noticeable bump from the 569 Euros ($697) “standard” edition retails for in France. Of course, considering the Alpha is now several months old and the premium’s pricier price means its even closer to the 849 Euros ($1,040) the Galaxy Note Edge sells for.
