Galaxy Book 3 series announced during Samsung Unpacked event
Today, Samsung held its highly anticipated Galaxy Unpacked event, where it unveiled the long-awaited Galaxy S23 series. While the S23 was unquestionably the focus of the show, it wasn’t the only Galaxy series revealed at the event. The tech giant also gave us a look at its latest lineup of laptops — the Galaxy Book 3 series.
The lineup includes the 14-inch and 16-inch Galaxy Book 3 Pro, 13.3 to 15.6-inch Galaxy Book 3 360, and the 16-inch Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360. In addition to these models, Samsung also revealed its first-ever Ultra model, which will be the company’s premium offering. Altogether, Samsung announced a total of four new laptops it’s adding to its roster.
If you were busy and happened to miss the event, there’s no need to worry. We’ll break down all the information provided during the show, starting with what to expect from these devices.
Samsung Galaxy Book 3 series: What to expect
- A new generation of Galaxy Books: Samsung is bringing back three versions — Galaxy Book Pro, Galaxy Book 360, and Galaxy Book Pro 360 — of last year’s Galaxy Books for the next generation.
- The Galaxy Book line gets an Ultra model: Similar to its flagship phones, Samsung is adding an Ultra version of the Galaxy Book lineup.
- A new king of the hill: The Ultra model will usurp the Pro 360 model as Samsung’s highest-end laptop. It will include an RTX graphics card and more memory than the rest of the lineup.
- Larger than the Galaxy Book 2 series: Samsung has bumped up the size of its laptops this time around. Most of the models will be about an inch larger with the Book 3 Pro, Book 3 Pro 360, and Ultra each offering a 14 or 16-inch display.
- Larger laptop, higher price: The new Book 3 series will be a tad more expensive than the Book 2 series. The Book 3 360, Book 3 Pro, Book 3 Pro 360, and Book 3 Ultra will start at $1,299.99, $1,449.99, $1,699.99, and $2,199.99 respectively.

As you would expect given the Ultra branding, the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra has the most premium tech specs among the family. It’s the only model in the lineup that offers a 13th-Gen Intel Core i9 processor, an RTX GPU, and 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM.
However, the Pro models do share a few features with the Ultra. These include the 16-inch display, AKG quad speakers with Dolby Atmos support, 76W battery life, and a terabyte of internal storage.
If you go the vanilla route, you won’t be sacrificing that much. While it will be a bit smaller at 13.3 or 15.6 inches, have a smaller battery, and have dual speakers instead of quad speakers, the Book 3 360 is still comparable to its Pro counterparts.
Samsung Galaxy Book 3 series: Release date and price
If you need a laptop and Samsung is the way you want to go, the company is allowing preorders starting on February 1. However, the collection won’t be available in stores until February 17.
You’ll have your choice of colors to pick from which include Beige, Graphite, and Silver. Two of these colorways were available for the Galaxy Book 2, but Beige is a new addition to the lineup.
In regards to cost, the Book 3 360 will be $1,299.99, the Pro will sell for $1,449.99, the Pro 360 will sell for $1,699.99, and the Ultra version will set you back $2,199.99. You’ll be able to preorder on Samsung’s reservation page, where you can also reserve a Galaxy S23.
Should you buy the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 series?
The Galaxy Book 2 series impressed us with its low weight, gorgeous display, and solid performance. For this generation, it looks like Samsung is making a few improvements by fitting in Intel’s Raptor Lake chips and including a bigger battery. It also seems to have added two extra speakers for the Pro and Ultra models, which is nice given we had an issue with the Book 2’s audio. However, there’s not a huge leap up from the Galaxy Book 2 to the Galaxy Book 3 in regards to the other specs.
Samsung’s new laptop lineup is situated squarely among competitors like Apple’s Macbook Air, Dell’s XPS line, and ASUS’s Zenbook. What Samsung offers with the Galaxy Book 3 should be enough to help it compete competently with its rivals.
