TL;DR
  • Director Ridley Scott produced a short film with the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
  • The film, Behold, is a four-minute project that’s meant to showcase the phone’s 200MP camera.
  • It also displays the camera’s performance under low light conditions.

Samsung is pretty proud of the camera setup on its Galaxy S23 Ultra. It is in fact the first Samsung phone to ever have a 200MP sensor. To show off exactly what it can do, the tech giant had Ridley Scott use the phone to shoot a short film.

The director of films such as Blade Runner, The Martian, and Alien got some early hands-on time with the Galaxy S23 Ultra. With it, Scott directed and produced a short four-minute film called Behold.

The film is about a young man who is in an “aggressive environment,” and every turn he makes is met with aggression. Only to later find peace through a horse that he lets loose in a field at the end. “Out of a dark world becomes good things with good behavior,” Scott explains in the behind-the-scenes video.

If you were watching Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked on February 1, then you may recognize some shots in this film. The company showed off bits and pieces of the film during its presentation. In addition to showing off the 200MP camera, this film also does a good job of showing off the camera’s ability to film under low light conditions.

This advertising strategy may not do anything for the average person. The average user likely isn’t going to be able to get the same results out of the Galaxy S23 Ultra as a legendary director. But as Apple leans into advertising its iPhone Pro towards content creators, this stunt may be enough to convince aspiring directors out there to pick up an Ultra.
