TL;DR
  • Galaxy Z Fold 8 owners are reporting an issue with app misalignment.
  • App icons are moving into areas where they shouldn’t be, and users can’t relocate them.
  • Samsung has confirmed the issue and says that the bug has been fixed in Home Up v18.0.00.36.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 has been a hit since its release, outpacing Samsung’s expectations. If you were one of the many who picked up the wide foldable, you may have recently encountered a bizarre bug related to app placement. The good news is that Samsung has noticed this glitch and has a fix available.

The issue at hand is causing apps to appear in locations where they shouldn’t be. On Samsung’s community forum, Galaxy Z Fold 8 owners are sharing screenshots of app icons overlapping other icons on the home layout. Some apps are even relocating to areas beyond their borders.

According to one affected user, despite locking the home layout and rearranging the apps separately, the app arrangement reverts to a mess after a couple of days. “The app even went into a strange place and won’t move,” the user adds. Another Galaxy Z Fold 8 owner mentions that their apps are moving into the area between panes, and they are unable to select and move that icon.

A member of the Good Lock support team has now responded to these complaints, confirming a layout distortion issue affecting the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Fortunately, the problem appears to have been resolved in a new update. The representative recommends updating to Home Up v18.0.00.36 by clicking the update icon to the right of Good Lock > Apps tab > Home Up. Once the update is installed, you’ll be able to rearrange the misaligned items through Home Screen Edit.
