GE's Kitchen Hub is a huge, Android-powered touchscreen that mounts above your stove
Have you ever looked at the area above your stove and told yourself that would be the perfect place for a gigantic touchscreen? Well, GE’s answer to that question is the Kitchen Hub.
The Kitchen Hub is a 27-inch touchscreen that runs Android and supports Google Assistant. That means you can use your voice to bring up recipes, watch cooking videos, and control other smart home devices. You can also download and run apps like Netflix and Spotify to watch movies and listen to music while you cook.
In a purely extra move, GE threw in two cameras in the Kitchen Hub: an overhead camera to show what you’re cooking and a front-facing camera for video calls. These cameras aren’t necessary at all, but neither is the fact that the Kitchen Hub is a big touchscreen.
Lastly, the Kitchen Hub doubles as an exhaust vent that pulls the smoke away.
Unfortunately, the Kitchen Hub does not triple as an over-the-range microwave. Also missing is any resistance against oil or water, a weird omission given the Kitchen Hub’s placement above your stove.
If that doesn’t bother you, then the prices might: $1,199 to $1,399, depending on if you want a matte or stainless steel finish. The Kitchen Hub goes on sale this May.
