Want Gemini to remember you're a vegan? You'll need to pay for that.
- Google has formally announced that a saved info feature is coming to Gemini Advanced.
- This will allow you to specify your interests and preferences for future queries.
- The feature will be available to all Gemini Advanced subscribers on Android and desktop.
Google debuted Gemini Advanced earlier this year, offering a cutting-edge chatbot for subscribers. Now, it turns out that Gemini Advanced is gaining a handy feature to deliver more accurate, personalized information.
Google announced that a saved info feature is coming to Gemini Advanced. You can simply ask Gemini to remember specific interests and preferences, and the chatbot will keep these in mind when dishing out recommendations.
The search giant says you can ask Gemini to remember that you’re vegetarian. The chatbot will later recommend vegetarian recipes without having to clarify this preference. These preferences can be viewed and edited on the saved info page (settings > saved info).
If this all sounds familiar, that’s because Google quietly confirmed this feature last month. The company explained at the time that Gemini Advanced would be able to recall interests and preferences related to “your work, your hobbies, or your general aspirations in life.”
Google’s support page notes that the saved info feature is only available in English right now and doesn’t support Gemini Live “for now.” The company also notes that you can use Gemini on the web to save your interests and preferences if the feature isn’t available on your app just yet.
Either way, this is a convenient addition to Gemini and means you don’t have to keep clarifying your specific preferences with every query. The good news is that the saved info feature will be available on all Android phones and on desktop. So you don’t need a Pixel 9 series phone to get in on the action. The news also comes as Google reveals the December 2024 Pixel Drop, bringing a host of features to Google devices.
