Gemini could soon make it easier to purge old, unwanted conversations
Oct 26, 2026 — 2:08 PM ET

- Gemini users can reference a past list of their conversations with the AI.
- Right now you can select individual conversations and choose to share, pin or delete.
- Gemini may soon allow you to select multiple conversations at once, for easy bulk deletion.
At this point, it’s probably fair to say that a growing number of us have a bit of a love–hate relationship when it comes to many things AI. Sure, we appreciate its ability to help summarize reams of material, generate fantastical imagery, and even help us code apps, but all that power is also exactly why it’s worth approaching with a modicum of caution. One of the many ways we manage that is by controlling our AI history, limiting its ability to reference past interactions. And now it looks like Gemini is working on a new feature up that alley.
You’re reading an Authority Insights story. Authority Insights brings you all the latest exclusive reports, app teardowns, leaks, and in-depth tech coverage from the Android Authority team that you won’t find anywhere else.
Open up the Gemini app on your phone, hit the hamburger menu in the top-left, and under your notebooks you’ll find a list of all your past Gemini chats. You can tap on one to bring it back up, looking at what you asked and how Gemini responded, or long-press to get options like the ability to pin the conversation, share it, or delete it from the list.
Right now, though, all those long-press options are happening one conversation at a time. Based on some of the tweaks we’re seeing in version 17.70.10.sa.arm64 of the Google app for Android, though, that might be about to change.
With this release, Google is putting the framework in place to add a new “Select” option here. Once you go through and select multiple individual conversations, users will have the ability to then delete them all in one fell swoop.
Admittedly, that’s not the biggest change in the world — and probably not one we’re going to have cause to use very often — but we can see the utility. We’re also curious if Google might be thinking about a bulk-select option for Gemini’s web interface, which so far just shows the same options as the app when hitting the overflow button next to each conversation.
Right now it’s anyone’s guess if or when Google might be thinking about pushing this change live, but we’ll keep an eye out for any further signs of progress.
