TL;DR
  • Gemini Notebook is giving users more creative control over Slide Decks and Video Overviews through a feature called “Co-creation.”
  • The platform will now walk the user through the creation flow, allowing them to steer the format and visual style before the final output.
  • Co-creation capabilities will roll out to all users over the upcoming week.

Gemini Notebook is a helpful tool for digesting large amounts of information. One way this is done is by breaking down your material into structured formats such as Audio Overviews and Study Aids, like flashcards. After a new update, you’ll soon have more creative control over the output from two of these formats.

In a blog post, Google announced that it will add “co-creation” capabilities to Video Overviews and Slide Decks. Normally, Gemini Notebook will take a prompt and jump right to the final product. However, with co-creation, Notebook will walk you through the creation flow before outputting a result.

For example, after you ask the platform to create slides from your sources, Notebook will suggest topics to be included. After confirming, you’ll be able to steer the content further by telling it the format and visual style you want. It will take all of this into account before generating your slides.

And if you want even more creative control, you’ll be able to turn on a new Review toggle. While enabled, there will be a “Review outline notes” option for slides and a “Review producer notes” option for video. Clicking on either of these options will allow you to check on the plan in the studio panel before anything is created. You’ll also be able to give feedback, like asking to swap the order of slides, before selecting “Proceed” to generate the output.

There’s no exact date for when co-creation capabilities will roll out. However, Google says to expect them to arrive over the upcoming week. This change will be a global rollout that’s available to all Gemini Notebook users.
