Gionee Marathon M5 and its massive 6,020 mAh battery reach India
Gionee announced the Marathon M5 last June, a phone which quickly became one of the most enticing Chinese handsets around. And it’s not for its specs or design (at least not as much), it’s because this bad boy packs two batteries, adding up to a massive 6,020 mAh of pure juice.
It was only released in china for CNY 2,299 (about $370 USD, back then). Now the company has taken the stage at a press conference in Bangalore to announce that the Marathon M5 is now available in India for ₹17,999 (about $272 USD) from Flipkart.
The name of this handset is very fitting, as it can literally run laps around most other handsets out there. In fact, Gionee claims this bad boy can last up to 4 days on a single charge. It’s so filled with energy that it can even charge other devices, so it could even act as your battery pack!
Other specs include a 5.5-inch 720p screen, a 1.3 GHz MediaTek MT6735 quad-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage (microSD support), a 13 MP main camera and a 5 MP front-facing shooter, all powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop.
As mentioned earlier, this is definitely not the phone you write home about, but it’s the phone you will take when you are not home. It has enough battery for camping trips, weekend adventures and all that you can think of doing in 4 days!
