Is GitHub down for you? Here's what's going on (Update: Back online)

- GitHub confirms there is an outage and it is investigating.
- Webhooks, actions, pull requests, and more are currently experiencing degraded performance.
Update: October 7, 2026 (1:03 PM ET): According to the GitHub status site, all systems are operational once again.
Original article: October 7 2026 (11:41 AM ET): The online platform where developers store, share, and collaborate on software projects is experiencing issues today. GitHub has confirmed there is an outage.
Thousands of users are flocking to Downdetector to report that GitHub is down. It appears that the reports started at around 10:50 AM ET. The current count of reports has reached over 2,500.
Over on GitHub’s status page, there’s confirmation of degraded service. At the time of writing, there are issues with webhooks, actions, pull requests, and requests for issues. An investigation into the issues is currently underway.
