This Google AI experiment wants to become your family’s unpaid intern

Late last year, Google introduced an all-new attempt at making Gemini a lot more useful for everyday life. Called CC, it was a new AI agent designed to give you a daily briefing and help you follow up on tasks by tracking information found within your Gmail, Calendar, and Drive. The Google Labs experiment evolved into Gemini’s Daily Brief, and Google is now taking the original CC concept and expanding its horizon.

Google is transforming CC into an agent for families and households. Instead of only helping one person, the AI tool will take a broader household approach, complete with its own dedicated Google account.

Instead of working through your own Google account, the tool will have its own account that you can share information with, just like you’d normally share things with a friend’s Google account. Up to six members will be able to manage and collaborate with the new agent, with CC only gaining access to what each member chooses to share. Users can share PDFs, images, receipts, and plain text. Once it has access to information, it sorts through it and creates a shared Daily Brief for the family.

For reference, parents can automate emails from their kid’s school to be forwarded to CC, while all other Calendar invites can also be automatically forwarded. The main idea is that instead of leaving all that information scattered, CC can bring it all together and present it to you in a convenient manner.

In addition to giving you a “Your Day Ahead” brief, CC will also be able to track important dates and to-dos from information shared by family members. The tool will then add all of those events into a family calendar or a Task list.

Elsewhere, the upgraded tool will also be able to take some chores off your plate. As you can see in the GIF below, CC will be able to help you complete mundane and repetitive tasks. The tool can fill out permission slips and activity registration PDFs, put together school supply shopping lists, and even create weekly meal plans. Google also added that instead of hallucinating, if CC doesn’t have enough information to complete a certain task, it will ask you about the missing details.

The tool’s memory will reportedly only grow with time. As family members keep using CC, it will learn more about you that can be added to its memory, including information like a go-to grocery item or favorite restaurants. The tool will not submit any forms or payments autonomously.

Of course, the AI tool will not have access to your entire personal life. You still get to decide what CC can see. You can automate certain emails to always be forwarded to CC, and send one-off emails to the tool through Gmail or Google Chat.

CC is still an early Google Labs experiment, so it might not always work as described. It is available to try out now for those in the US with a personal Google account. Existing CC users will receive an email inviting them to upgrade to the new experience. New users interested in trying out CC can join Google’s waitlist.
