Google's Duet AI features are now Gemini and coming to more people
- Google is renaming Duet AI for Workspace into “Gemini for Workspace” and Duet AI for Google Cloud into “Gemini.”
- This rename is part of the larger rebranding exercise where all of Google’s AI efforts are brought under the “Gemini” umbrella.
- Duet AI features like Help Me Write will soon be available to users who subscribe to the new Google One AI Premium plan.
Google is on a massive rebranding campaign, bringing all its AI efforts under the “Gemini” branding. The most prominent of these changes involves renaming Google Bard to Google Gemini, but Google isn’t stopping there. Google’s Duet AI for Workspace is also being renamed to Gemini, and the features within are now coming to more people.
Duet AI exists in Google Workspace and Google Cloud. With Workspace accounts, you can use Duet AI-enabled features like Help Me Write, a Gmail tool that uses generative AI to help you draft emails. For Google Cloud, Duet AI provides features like code assistance, chat assistance to get queries answered around development, and more.

Beyond the rename, Google is bringing several of the features present in these brandings to more users through the new Google One AI Premium subscription. The AI tools within Gemini (formerly known as Duet AI) will be coming to Gmail, Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Meet “soon,” letting non-Workspace and non-Cloud users also experience how they can use AI within Google apps and services.
The new Google One AI Premium subscription is a new Google One tier that costs $19.99 per month. It grants you access to Gemini Advanced, 2TB of Google One storage, and other perks that are present in the 2TB Google One Premium plan (which costs $9.99 per month).
Google will offer a two-month free trial to this tier to let people experience Gemini Advanced, but since the Duet AI features haven’t arrived yet, you may want to wait a bit before you redeem this offer.
