TL;DR
  • Version 5.12 of the Google Health app is rolling out.
  • This version includes updates for medical records, health tracking, pregnancy tracking, nutrition, resilience, and Health Coach.
  • The rollout is expected to continue over the next week in phases.

Since the big rebrand, the Google Health experience has continued to be refined. Last month, the app received a fairly substantial update, adding new Health Guardian features for the Fitbit Air, improved sleep tracking, and more. This month, the update is just as large, with several updates ranging from health tracking to nutrition.

Google has started the rollout of version 5.12 of the Health app. Although the rollout is starting today, it may take some time to hit your device. The company states that the update will have a phased release that will continue over the next week. This update is for both the Android and iOS versions of the app.

One of the key updates is health tracking, which improves glucose visualization and blood pressure tracking. For glucose, a new overlay appears next to logged and tracked events on the graph. Users can now log their blood pressure readings manually or sync them from another app.

Another highlight of this update is a fix for Resilience Scores. Previously, Resilience Scores were skewed artificially low. Google says that scores will now be calculated correctly, and earlier incorrect scores will be updated soon.

Here are the other updates mentioned in the changelog for version 5.12:

Medical records updates

  • Medical Records in England: If you have medical records in England, you can sync records from many NHS GP practices and a growing number of NHS hospitals and secondary care organizations by connecting your Google Health app to our partner Patients Know Best. Get started by tapping on your profile icon, then “Medical records,” and then selecting the provider “NHS Records (England) via Patients Know Best” and allow syncing. (1)
  • Function Health: You can now sync laboratory data from Function Health to the Google Health app by selecting “Function Health” when searching for your provider during medical records setup. (1)

Cycle health updates

  • Pregnancy logging and tracking: You can now log your pregnancy in the Google Health app directly through your Cycle Health settings or by chatting with your Google Health Coach (for Premium subscribers). (2) When you do, your standard cycle predictions and period notifications are automatically paused, and your cycle tracking page transforms to display your current weeks of pregnancy. For Premium subscribers, logging pregnancy will also personalize coach conversations and feed card insights.

Nutrition updates

  • Grouping Food Items: We’ve added better grouping for individual food items so you can get better insights into your meals. Individual items logged within the same 60-minute window are now grouped together.

Health Coach updates

  • Plan Progress: You can now get personalized progress summaries (2) for your fitness plans to help you stay on track toward your goals. Check them out in the Fitness tab.

(1) Personal Health Records stored with Google may not be comprehensive or accurate. Always consult your doctor for medical advice or for an official copy of your health records for clinical or government purposes.

(2) Requires Google Health Premium subscription (sold separately), Google Health app, and internet connection. Features subject to change; availability varies. Not intended for medical purposes. Gemini features work independently of Gemini apps. Check responses for accuracy; results may vary.
