Google continues to add new services and features to its Google Home connected speaker, including more access to streaming music companies. This week, the official Google Home support page was quietly updated to show that the speaker is now allowing owners with free Spotify accounts to access that version of the popular service. The speaker already can stream music for subscribers of Spotify’s paid service.

Google previously announced that free Spotify support would be added to Google Home last May at the 2017 Google I/O conference. While over 60 million people pay for a premium Spotify subscription, there are likely many millions more that just listen to the service via the free, ad-supported, tier. Google Home owners can add their Spotify account by going to the Home app, then tap on the Music option and then tap on the Spotify selection.

Google Home previously added another music service, Deezer, earlier in August. We are still waiting for the support for SoundCloud that was announced in May. Earlier this week, the company revealed that the Google Home Preview Program is now live. It will allow people who sign up for it to get first crack at Google Home software and feature updates before they are rolled out to everyone else.
