The Google Home Max is bringing premium audio to the Home lineup
The Google Home is going big. The Home Max is a brand new speaker that focuses on bringing high-quality audio to your living room. It has stereo speakers and a more premium look and build, but still packs in Google Assistant and all the functionality of the Google Home and Google Home Mini.
The Home Max is designed for those who want a smart home speaker in their living room, but don’t want to give up audio quality. The Google Home had been maligned for its rather pedestrian audio quality but the Max is 20 times more powerful than the Home and packs in dual 4.5-inch woofers and custom 0.7″ tweeters. Max will be Google’s first speaker with its Smart Sound system. Smart Sound will automatically adjust the audio based on where the speaker is placed in a room. Even if you move Max a few feet, it’ll dy will automatically tune the speaker for whatever space its in. It analyzes the sound coming from the speaker and ambient noise in the room using its built-in microphones then adjusts to provide the best sound possible.
Home Max is also designed to fit into your space. The detachable, magnetic stand will allow the Home Max to be placed either horizontally or vertically. It supports cast and Bluetooth pairing functionality and has an aux input too so you can hook up other devices to it. It’ll also integrate with other Home devices to support multi-room playback.
Google Home Max comes in two colors, Charcoal and Chalk. Presale will start on November 13 at the Google Store, Best Buy, and other retailers. It’ll hit store shelves in December for $399 and comes with 12 months of YouTube Music for free. Sales will start with the United States with other countries seeing it early next year.
