Google One finally offers more than extra cloud storage
Primarily known as Google’s subscription service for expanded cloud storage, Google One now offers automatic phone backups.
Google One handles the standard Android backup, which includes your app data, call history, contacts, settings, and SMS messages. Google One also keeps backups of original photos, videos, and multimedia messages (MMS).
Better yet, you can restore backups from the app. That’s especially useful for those who purchased a new Android device and want to restore older data.

RCS messages generally won’t be backed up, though that depends on your phone, carrier, and messaging app. Google specifically mentions T-Mobile and Metro, which don’t universally support RCS messages. As a result, you can back up RCS messages from the aforementioned carriers using Google One.
Also, you’ll need a Google One membership if you want automatic phone backups. You’ll also need the membership if you want the service to back up your original-quality photos, videos, and MMS messages.
Google One’s automatic phone backups should be rolling out now. If you want a Google One membership, pricing starts at $1.99 per month for 100GB.
