Google released first factory and OTA images for the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL
- Google released the first factory images and OTA files for the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.
- The files strangely contain the September security patch, even though we are in October.
- The Pixel 3 is listed as “blueline,” while the Pixel 3 XL is “crosshatch.”
With the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL now available for anyone who wants two of the better Android smartphones out there, Google also posted the first factory images and OTA files for both phones.
The files contain the September security patch, even though the October security patch is already available for the older Pixel phones and November is right around the corner. Google could simply push out an update to get the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL on October’s or wait until November, but we will have to wait and see.
Something else you will notice is that there are files just for the Verizon version. The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are unlocked regardless of where you buy them from, but the Verizon version comes with a locked bootloader. This prevents people from flashing custom ROMs and firmware onto their devices.
You can find the factory and OTA images at the links below. The Pixel 3 is listed as “blueline,” while the Pixel 3 XL is “crosshatch.” You can also visit our guide on how to flash factory images.
