For the past couple of months, the Google Pixel 4 series has been a hot ticket for leakers across the web. Everything from the specs, to pictures and even videos of the Pixel 4 phones have been outed already. Now, 9to5Google claims to have access to the “official spec sheet” of the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, revealing a new piece of hardware we’ve never heard of before.

Pixel Neural Core

pixel 4 specs sheet

Mentioned under the processor section in the spec sheet is a new element of the Pixel 4 series which wasn’t reported before. Alongside the Snapdragon 855 SoC, the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will also feature something called Pixel Neural Core.

While there aren’t any official details about what this Neural Core will do, we expect it to be an AI-based chip for image processing. The Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 series featured the Pixel Visual Core to aid in computational photography. The Pixel Neural Core sounds like an enhancement of this. It could also possibly assist the Pixel 4 devices in other AI tasks, hence losing the “Visual Core” terminology.

What’s in the box?

9to5Google claims to also have the exact details of what will be included in the box of the Pixel 4 phones. By the looks of it, the box will include a 1 meter-long USB-C to USB-C cable, an 18W USB-C charger, a Quick Switch adapter, a SIM tool, and the Quick Start guide.

It seems like the Pixel 4 phones will ship without a USB-C headphone adapter or USB-C earphones which were bundled with the Pixel 3 phones.
