Pixel Watch 2 all but launched as latest leak bares new features
- A new leak has revealed all the new features and sensors coming to the Pixel Watch 2.
- The information comes with a leaked official promo video for the smartwatch.
If you’ve been following tech news coverage today, you’d know that a spate of Pixel leaks has completely spoiled Google’s October 4 launch party. Adding to this overbearing barrage of information is a new, comprehensive Pixel Watch 2 leak that covers almost everything you need to know about the smartwatch.
The information comes from Kamila Wojciechowska in partnership with 91mobiles. The duo claim to have obtained official Google documents that list all the new features of the Pixel Watch 2. They have also leaked a marketing video of the wearable highlighting its new capabilities.
Pixel Watch 2 new features
For one, the Pixel Watch 2 is now confirmed to get the previously rumored skin temperature measurement feature. However, tiny disclaimer text under the video suggests this may not be available in all countries.
The watch will also get stress tracking, as previously rumored and confirmed by Google’s own teaser video. A new cEDA sensor in the watch will power Fitbit’s stress management system. When the watch detects a state of stress, users will be prompted to log their current mood and given suggestions to improve it.
Heart rate tracking is also improving on the Pixel Watch 2 thanks to Fitbit’s multi-path heart rate sensor, which is expected to be more accurate than the one on the current Pixel Watch.
Furthermore, the Pixel Watch 2 will be capable of detecting seven workouts, including running and cycling. A pace-tracking feature is also being added.
Google has reportedly upgraded the safety features on the Pixel Watch 2. It should now pack a Safety Check option, the same as Pixel phones.
The Pixel Watch 2 is expected to offer 24 hours of battery life with Always-on Display. A full day’s charge should take about 75 minutes, and the overall battery life is said to be comparable to the first Pixel Watch.
Pixel Watch 2 design, colors, and availability
As for its design, the Pixel Watch 2 should have an all-aluminum build with a slightly redesigned back because of the new sensors. Colorways that should be available at launch include — Bay, Obsidian, Hazel, and Porcelain. Google will also have new Metal Slim and Active Sport bands for the Pixel Watch 2. A leak from earlier today suggests the smartwatch could cost £349.
Lastly, Google is reportedly adding India to the list of countries getting the new Pixel Watch.
