Google's official Pixelbook sleeve is hella expensive
- Sleeve for Google Pixelbook now available from the Google Store.
- It costs $100.
- Official sleeve includes a Pixelbook Pen slot and a premium layered microfibre finish.
The official Sleeve for Google Pixelbook is now available to order via Google’s online store – but there’s a small catch.
When Google announced the Pixelbook at last year’s “Made by Google” event you could almost hear the scoffs from some of the attendees. A premium, Chrome OS machine powered by 7th generation Intel processors, a ridiculously overblown 8 GB of RAM, and a $999 (currently $919) price-tag?
While many still see the Pixelbook as an overpowered, overpriced piece of kit, the 2-in-1 does have a lot going for it, especially in the design department – you can read our full review here for more.
At a glance, the same could also be said of the official sleeve. It closely resembles the Pixelbook’s fuss-free, grayscale aesthetic and is crafted from “premium layered microfibre” to protect your expensive Chromebook.
There’s just one problem: It costs $100.
I guess there’s an argument to be had that if you’ve spent a thousand dollars on a premium device, another one hundred isn’t the end of the world. It’s worth noting that the official case is $20 more than the unofficial Bellroy sleeve that was previously advertised on Google’s online store, according to Android Police. In fact, the Bellroy case seems to have vanished from the store at time of writing… how strange.
For what it’s worth, the Pixelbook Sleeve comes with a slot for stowing away the Pixelbook Pen and has a small, subtle Google logo on the magnetic flap to match the logo placement on the Pixelbook itself.
If the $100 hasn’t put you off, you can pick up the Sleeve via the button below. Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments!
