Google Play may soon let you build and customize game playlists

Soon after being spotted working on a download management tool and a separate feature that makes paid games stand out from free ones, Google appears to be preparing yet another gaming-related change for the Play Store.
The development is tied to helping Android users curate proper, fleshed-out game collections on the Play Store.

We found hints about the potentially upcoming feature in Google Play Store version 53.3.21-34, with several new code strings suggesting that Google will officially name this custom collection of games a playlist.
Users will likely be able to build their own collections, with the option to add multiple games and customize the playlist’s look. We haven’t spotted this feature before, and Google hasn’t acknowledged it either, so there’s no guarantee that it will roll out. However, considering the amount of supporting code evidence we’ve found, it’s clear that playlists will be more than just a simple game bookmarking tool. Instead, Play will let users curate collections like “Best offline games,” “Best games to play with friends,” “Games you need to try,” and similar, and share them.
The feature will likely surface a dedicated interface to add games to playlists, with code strings pointing to options like “Add game,” “Search games,” and “Search for games to add to your playlist” from the Google Play Store’s game library.
One string reads “Please add at least 3 games,” suggesting that there’s a minimum size requirement for new playlists.
Google’s taking this seriously
Once you’ve added games to your new playlist, you’ll likely be able to customize its look too, as hinted at by strings like “Add a title…,” “Add a description…,” and “Choose color.” Giving your playlist a title could be mandatory, while adding a description will likely be optional.
We’re not certain if giving your playlist a color will be mandatory, though if you’re going through the effort of creating a custom playlist for your mobile games, giving them a color to help them stand apart (based on genre, games you’ve already played, games you want to recommend to friends, etc.) makes sense.
As is the case with many curation-based features, you’ll have the option to edit your playlists after they’ve been created, as hinted in code strings:
“Edit playlist”
“Remove game”
“Delete playlist”
“Delete playlist?”
“Deleting playlist…”
“Deleting…”
“This playlist will be permanently deleted.”
“Discard”
“Keep editing”
“Your changes will not be saved.”
