Latest Google Play Games update enables custom Gamer IDs and automatic sign-in
At the beginning of the year, Google announced a few big changes would soon be coming to Play Games. The first of which, and arguably the most exciting, is that Play Games would be able to log users in automatically without requiring a Google+ account. The company announced that custom Gamer IDs would also be coming to the platform, though we haven’t really heard much about that since the announcement back in February. We know you’ve been patiently waiting for those two big features to come to Play Games, and we’re happy to report that you’ll have to wait no longer. Google is now pushing out an update to Play Games that enables both of these features for everybody.
Play Games will now sign you in automatically
Custom Gamer IDs are also now available for everyone. Instead of using your full name in your Play Games profile, you can now create a unique username. Once you grab the update from Google Play, simply navigate to your gamer profile and you’ll be prompted to create a Gamer ID. Once you pick the one you’d like, you’ll be able to choose between over 40 avatars for your Gamer Picture. You can also choose to allow whether or not other gamers can discover your Gamer ID with your email or name, and also make your profile public or hidden. Oh, and once you make your new Gamer ID, head to the settings menu and check the sign in to games automatically option.
This update also brings the redesigned icon for Play Games that Google first announced a few days ago. If you’re interested in grabbing Play Games version 3.7, head to the Play Store link below for the download.
