Google Podcasts getting important upgrade this week with episode search
The Google Podcasts app will get individual episode search functionality this week, according to Google’s podcast app product manager Zack Reneau-Wedeen (via 9to5Google). Reneau-Wedeen announced the update in a tweet yesterday.
Google’s podcasts app, released last summer, currently allows users to search for specific shows, but not the episodes within those shows. These can only be viewed after you’ve selected a podcast, which keeps the search functionality light at the expense of some control.
With the new feature, individual episodes will appear when searching, which will arrive as a much-needed usability improvement for some fans.
Other recent Google Podcasts updates include better show note integration, Android Auto support, and a casting feature that started rolling out late last year.
Episode search is said to be with one percent of users already, but the full rollout is expected to be completed by the end of the week. If you haven’t tried it already, you can download Google Podcasts at the button below. Let me know what your favorite podcast is right now in the comments?
