New leak offers a fresh look at Google's 'Sabrina' Android TV remote
- WinFuture has shared new images of Google’s upcoming Chromecast-powered Android TV dongle and accompanying remote.
- The included remote features a different button layout than what it had in past images.
- Specifically, it’s missing a customizable star button.
We’ve already seen images of Google’s Sabrina Chromecast-powered Android TV dongle a couple of times, but new photos courtesy of WinFuture provide a better idea of what we can expect from the forthcoming device.
To start, the remote features a revised button layout from the last time we saw it. Starting at the top, you have a D-Pad for navigating the interface, as well as back and Assistant buttons. Underneath, we see home and mute buttons. Joining those are dedicated YouTube and Netflix shortcuts. And rounding things out, there is a power button, an input switch, and a volume rocker on the remote’s side. All that’s missing here is a headphone jack like you see on Roku remotes.
In past leaks, the remote also included a star button that people thought Google would let you use as a programmable shortcut. It’s not present in these latest images.
WinFuture also shared new images of the accompanying HDMI dongle. There aren’t many surprises here. It features a short HDMI cable, a button on the back, likely used for resetting the device, and a USB power connection for powering the dongle.
We won’t have to wait long to get official details on the new device. Google is hosting an event on September 30 to announce new Pixel hardware. The invite the company sent promised a look at its “new Chromecast.”
