Google Search will soon show Live TV listings
Over the years we’ve seen Google Search expand to bring us quick look access to information on a wide range of topics from illnesses to drink concoctions, and even TV/movie-related topics such as cast information, sources that shows are available online from, and more. But what about live TV listings? Rather than having to explicitly visit a different site after searching for TV listings, Google Search will soon display them inline, much like the company already does with Weather and Sports results.
Unfortunately there’s no timeline specified for the TV listings within Google Search to be activated, but Google says it’s coming soon. As you’d expect, once it’s live, this change won’t require an update to the search app and will instead be switched on from the back-end. Here’s a brief statement taken from Google’s official blog post:
Today, I’m excited to announce that, coming soon, Google Search will have live TV listings. So now when you’re looking for The Big Bang Theory, we’ll not only show you the apps and sites where you can find the latest episode, but also show which channel you can turn your tv to later in the evening or week to catch it live.
What do you think, is this something you’d use personally? Keep your eyes peeled on the Google Search results and drop us a comment if you see the feature has rolled out to you.
