HBO Max is the premium video streaming service from Warner Media. It wants you to spend $14.99 a month to access a ton of classic and current movies and TV shows on the service without ads, including Friends, The Big Bang Theory, the DC Comics movie library, and much more. Warner Bros. will also release its new movies both in theaters and, for one month, on HBO Max. You can also get the service for a lower price of $9.99 a month, but with ads and without the 2021 Warner Bros. films. But is there a way to get HBO Max for free?

As a matter of fact, there are ways to get HBO Max for free, especially if you are an AT&T wireless, internet, or TV subscriber. If you are not, there might still be a way to get the service for the price of nothing. Here’s what you need to know in order to get HBO Max for free.

Method 1: HBO Max for free for many cable HBO customers

Warner Bros. has entered into an agreement with many cable TV services that already offer HBO. Charter (Spectrum) customers that currently have an active HBO subscription can get HBO Max for free right now. Those subscribers will just need to sign into the HBO Max app and they are all set. Any new Charter customers can purchase HBO Max directly from the cable company.

WarnerMedia has also secured agreements with other cable TV providers. Altice USA cable users who have either HBO or HBO Now on their Optimum and Suddenlink plans will get HBO Max for free. The same goes for HBO and HBO Now subscribers on Verizon’s Fios TV and Fios Internet services. Comcast HBO viewers and Cox Communication’s Contour HBO subscribers will get the same treatment. Smaller cable TV companies that are a part of the NCTC organizations can also provide HBO Max for free for their HBO subscribers.

Method 2: U-Verse legacy users get it free

If you are already signed up for AT&T’s U-Verse U400, U450, and U450 Latino packages, you will also get HBO Max for free (AT&T is no longer selling new U-Verse subscriptions). 

Method 3: Sign up for an AT&T internet plan

You can sign up for an AT&T Internet 1000 plan where it is available. It costs $70 a month for 12 months. With this plan, you can get HBO Max for free.

Method 4: Free one year trials for AT&T TV and DirecTV packages

AT&T is offering one year of free trials for new customers of its AT&T TV Choice and Ultimate packages. DirecTV customers subscribed to its Choice, Ultimate, and Premier packages also get one year of HBO Max for free.

Method 5: Free with AT&T Unlimited Elite wireless phone service

If you are signed up for AT&T Unlimited Elite, you get access to the service for free. The wireless phone plan costs $85 a month for one line, or you can add more lines to get discounts, down to $45 a line for five lines.
