HONOR 10 to get gaming boost with GPU Turbo update next month
HONOR will roll out its new GPU Turbo tech for the HONOR 10 (pictured above) on July 30. HONOR made the announcement in a press release emailed to Android Authority earlier today.
The HUAWEI sub-brand revealed the graphics processing acceleration technology earlier in June alongside the HONOR Play. The software solution is set to increase graphics efficiency by 60 percent and reduce system-on-chip energy usage by 30 percent — something which should lead to smoother performance and less battery life consumption while gaming.
GPU Turbo is also said to compensate for titles lacking HDR visuals with its own rendering capabilities and provide better frame rates than similar phones. The improvements are likely to be most noticeable on graphically-intensive games.
The HONOR 10 is the first phone to receive a date for the upgrade, but HONOR has confirmed the HONOR View 10, HONOR 9 Lite, HONOR 7X, HONOR 8 Pro, and HONOR 9 will also get GPU Turbo in future.
HONOR will open up a beta for GPU turbo on July 15 for certain HONOR 10 users; we should have more information on that nearer the time.
