HONOR 5X is now getting Marshmallow and EMUI 4
Honor promised the 5X would get an update to Marshmallow and now it’s finally making good on its promise.
It’s a bit late, to be clear – HONOR said the update would come “soon,” two months ago. That said, we can’t really complain about budget phones like the HONOR 5X, not when certain flagships from other manufacturers are still waiting for their Marshmallow serving.
The Marshmallow update is rolling out in international markets. If you haven’t received an OTA notification yet, try checking for an update manually from Settings>Updater. The official HONOR forums for India recommend signing up for the update through the Hicare app that comes pre-installed on the device.
Along with Marshmallow features like Doze, granular permissions, and Now on Tap, the update bumps the EMUI version to 4.0. Features in the new installment include the ability to cancel message sending, a new Compass application, screen recording, and improvements to contact management. If you ran into nagging bugs on your HONOR 5X, there’s a chance that EMUI 4 will squash them.
