HONOR Magic V renders, specs leak: A bigger, beefier Galaxy Z Fold 3 rival
- Honor’s Magic V renders and specs have reportedly leaked.
- The foldable seems to have larger screens than the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
- The phone also apparently has a triple 50MP rear camera system.
HONOR gave us a few fleeting glimpses of its upcoming Magic V foldable, showing a device with a Galaxy Fold-style form factor. The phone is scheduled to be launched in China on January 10, and we’ve now got leaked renders and more specs.
MySmartPrice and tipster Ishan Agarwal shared apparent renders showing off the Magic V, showing the phone in black, brown, and white colorways. We also get a better look at the smartphone display, although none of these images show the folding screen. Check out the images above and below.
It’s believed that the device measures 160.4 × 72.7 × 14.3mm when folded and 160.4 × 141.1 × 6.7mm when unfolded, making it taller and wider than Samsung’s foldable (158.2mm tall and 67.1 or 128.1mm wide). But this could be for good reason.
The two sources say the HONOR Magic V cover display is a 6.45-inch FHD+ OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. The folding screen is tipped to be a 7.9-inch OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 2,272 × 1,984 resolution. In other words, it looks like the smartphone and folding screens are slightly bigger than the Galaxy Z Fold 3 panels.
Other claimed specs include a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of 512GB of storage, and a 4,750mAh battery with 66W charging.
The phone might be a decent camera platform too, as it’s tipped to arrive with a 50MP f/1.9 main camera, 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP “spectrum-enhanced” camera. Presumably, the latter camera is similar to the HUAWEI P50 Pocket‘s “super spectrum” camera, which is able to take fluorescent shots of sorts. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like there’s a telephoto lens here.
We’ll need to wait for Monday’s event to find out more about the Magic V, but we hope a global launch is forthcoming too. After all, Samsung could do with the competition.
